China Insurance Property & Casualty Company has adopted AI Large Language Model (LLM) technologies such as Qoder CN to improve development efficiency, reduce coding errors, and explore innovative applications in vertical business scenarios, enabling better customer service and advancing the insurance industry.
The insurance industry is widely regarded as a social "stabilizer" and an economic "accelerator." In recent years, the industry has rapidly embraced digital transformation. Today, as AI and large models lead technological progress, every part of the insurance value chain, such as R&D workflows, product design, and scenario expansion, can benefit from LLM-driven reinvention.
In a recent interview, Tang Mili, Deputy General Manager of the Innovation R&D Center at China Insurance Property & Casualty Company (hereafter "China Insurance"), shared how Qoder CN is driving business innovation at the financial institution.
According to Tang Mili, using Qoder CN has significantly boosted coding efficiency at China Insurance. Of the company’s 500+ frontend and backend developers, nearly 60% now use Qoder CN, and about 20% of the code they generate is accepted and merged. Beyond freeing developers from repetitive tasks—such as writing boilerplate code, creating unit tests, and debugging errors—the tool also plays a key role in reducing human error, ensuring code quality, and enhancing team innovation.
Regarding the R&D team's experience with Qoder CN, Tang Mili remarked, "Overall, it’s very developer-friendly—the more you use it, the more addictive it becomes."
Qoder CN is an intelligent coding assistant co-developed by Alibaba Cloud and Tongyi Lab, built on the Qwen large language model. Since its launch in November 2023, it has become China’s most widely used AI programming tool.
Wu Jie, an architect in Development Team Two at the China Insurance Innovation R&D Center, explained that developers often face repetitive, mechanical coding tasks that consume significant time and energy—precisely the kind of work Qoder CN excels at handling. "Qoder CN not only understands the current editing context but is also context-aware across the entire project, so the generated code closely matches our needs," Wu said.
Tang Mili added that in addition to Qoder CN, China Insurance is actively exploring other LLM applications in vertical business scenarios. "AI large models offer a wide range of application scenarios in insurance. China Insurance is investigating how cloud and large models can be applied in specialized domains to better serve customers, develop higher-quality products, and contribute to the insurance industry as a whole."
