Local workspace

File editing and the integrated terminal work with the project open in Editor. Before starting a task, check the project directory, Git branch, and terminal working directory.

Git worktrees

Use the IDE Git worktree workflow to work on separate branches:
  1. Search the command palette for Git: Create Worktree.
  2. Select a branch or create a new branch.
  3. Confirm the worktree directory. The new worktree appears in Source Control.
  4. Open the intended worktree directory as your project before starting an Editor conversation.
A worktree provides a separate file directory for a branch. It is not a terminal security sandbox and does not automatically transfer conversation context.
