Qoder CN Enterprise Standard Edition and Enterprise VPC Edition are purchased on a per-seat basis. Enterprises may add seats (scale-up reconfiguration) at any time during a subscription cycle. The cost and Credits for newly added seats are prorated based on the remaining time in the current cycle. This topic describes the billing rules for adding seats.
Take the Enterprise Standard Edition as an example. For each complete billing cycle:
A seat purchased by an enterprise starts counting from the moment the order is paid and the subscription takes effect. Whether the seat has been assigned to a specific member by the administrator does not affect its effective time or validity period.
Example: An enterprise purchases 3 seats on June 1, and the subscription takes effect immediately. Even if an administrator does not assign one of these seats to a member until June 5, the seat is still billed and counted starting from June 1.
An enterprise may add seats at any time during a subscription cycle. This is referred to as "scale-up reconfiguration."
The cost of a newly added seat is calculated as the ratio of the remaining time to the entire billing cycle. The formula is:
Cost of new seat = 99 CNY x remaining seconds in the current cycle / total seconds in the current full billing cycle
Where:
The number of Credits obtained for a newly added seat is prorated using the same remaining-time ratio. The formula is:
Credits for new seat = 3,000 Credits x remaining seconds in the current cycle / total seconds in the current full billing cycle
The Credits calculation result is rounded up to the nearest whole number.
Example: If a newly added seat covers approximately one-third of the remaining time in the current cycle, the seat receives approximately 1,000 Credits. If the per-second calculation results in 1,000.3 Credits, the system rounds up to 1,001 Credits.
Why do different members receive different amounts of Credits?
The number of Credits a member receives depends on the remaining time in the subscription cycle when the enterprise purchased that seat.
Basic subscription rules
Take the Enterprise Standard Edition as an example. For each complete billing cycle:
- Price per seat: 99 CNY per month
- Credits included per seat: 3,000 Credits per month
- At least 1 seat must be purchased on the first order
- After the initial purchase, the system automatically creates an enterprise instance
When a seat takes effect
A seat purchased by an enterprise starts counting from the moment the order is paid and the subscription takes effect. Whether the seat has been assigned to a specific member by the administrator does not affect its effective time or validity period.
Example: An enterprise purchases 3 seats on June 1, and the subscription takes effect immediately. Even if an administrator does not assign one of these seats to a member until June 5, the seat is still billed and counted starting from June 1.
Rules for adding seats
An enterprise may add seats at any time during a subscription cycle. This is referred to as "scale-up reconfiguration."
- Newly added seats do not start a new independent full monthly cycle. Instead, they expire together with the current enterprise subscription cycle.
- The cost and Credits for newly added seats are prorated based on the remaining time in the current cycle.
How the cost of scale-up reconfiguration is calculated
The cost of a newly added seat is calculated as the ratio of the remaining time to the entire billing cycle. The formula is:
Cost of new seat = 99 CNY x remaining seconds in the current cycle / total seconds in the current full billing cycle
Where:
- The remaining time is precise to the second.
- The total number of seconds in the current full billing cycle is calculated based on the actual number of days in the cycle (30 days for a 30-day cycle, 31 days for a 31-day cycle, 28 days for a 28-day cycle).
How Credits for scale-up reconfiguration are calculated
The number of Credits obtained for a newly added seat is prorated using the same remaining-time ratio. The formula is:
Credits for new seat = 3,000 Credits x remaining seconds in the current cycle / total seconds in the current full billing cycle
The Credits calculation result is rounded up to the nearest whole number.
Example: If a newly added seat covers approximately one-third of the remaining time in the current cycle, the seat receives approximately 1,000 Credits. If the per-second calculation results in 1,000.3 Credits, the system rounds up to 1,001 Credits.
FAQ
Why do different members receive different amounts of Credits?
The number of Credits a member receives depends on the remaining time in the subscription cycle when the enterprise purchased that seat.
- If the enterprise purchases a seat at the beginning of a subscription cycle, the seat receives the full-cycle entitlement, which is 3,000 Credits.
- If the enterprise adds a seat in the middle of a subscription cycle, the seat only covers the remaining time in the current cycle. Both the cost and Credits are prorated accordingly.
